My Story

Last week I've been building a routine...slacking at work as usual. Btw this week, work is supposed to be busy. My supervisor said may need to overtime and all that but by the looks of it...I don't think I'll be OT-ing today cos there's no sign of him anywhere. Hmm... slacking at work doesn't seem very fun anymore...I rather be spending my time sleeping or doing something else useful in my room. Haih...
Anyway at nights I go to lab since I'm now doing UROP...so far what I know is that I'll probably by programming some flash games. Luckily Chi Xu another undergrad there is teaching me...anything I dunno I can ask him although sometimes paiseh haha. I'm supposed to do some game now...but haven't really got started at it cos it's still pretty new...ActionScript and all... but basics in programming languages really helped me...last time before I came to NUS I'll probably have no clue as to what the programs are talking about...at least now the syntax seems more familiar although it still differs between different languages...
Weekends are still the best though...especially Saturday where I can sleep in late and sleep late... :p... haha...but Sunday was fun too. I went to Suntec with Chin Wee and Lee Hoong...and we practically had free lunch and dinner haha. Cos we stumbled on a Nestle health fair in Suntec Convention Centre. And there were plenty of free samples which was good enough to fill our stomachs. Even had a free check-up haha...my blood pressure's good this time round. :) Haha the things u do when u have frens around is crazy haha... cos I dun think my family would want to queue so long (although long it was still pretty fast moving tho) for the free samples...and we even went two rounds for some... :p

So kinda had an early day off today...not really much but quite a relief that I didn't need to walk back to hall since I'm already at the back of hall. Ho Yuet came with dinner for me..mee hoon from her lunch. Seems they cooked too much and had extra so she brought it for me haha. So nice got home cooked dinner. The mee hoon was Taiwan mee hoon so it tasted like dong fun (or tang hoon). Very yummy with the egg and "yu pian (fish cake yum)" and cabbage. Hehe...
After dinner, me and HY went to lab...the name of the lab is Edutainment Multimedia Lab or some sort like that. It's where we plan to do our UROP. They have hardware and software there and I think I'm more interested in the software...currently designing games using Flash...seems more fun to me. Hehe...anyway the ppl there are quite friendly...though all of them are PRC-s but still quite comfortable there. There's one Masters and one PHD student there and 3 other undergrads whom are EE and my batch. Those undergrads seem super pro already la. The guy that taught some Flash today only was there for 2 months and already they said he's mastered the art of Flash...he already programmed a number of games. Wow...hope I can learn a lot there la...it's more practical stuff... :p

Even the blog posts from my first year brings back so much memories as well. There was one that had the youtube video of our M'sian Nite preparation...from the pictures u can see so many ppl have changed in looks and I can recall how relationships develop throughout our years in RH. Even though it was only...2 years...hey quite a long while now come to think of it... :p
Back to the present days now, I went to meet the UROP PHD student yesterday. He was quite nice telling me insights on what type of career to choose next time like startup companies or big companies or ur own company. And also he welcomes me to get involved in their projects. Their projects are mostly embedded related or game related. They have plenty la...see what task they give me. I never really thought of whether I can handle it when school reopens but I just want to learn and I think hands-on skills are so much better. O well I'll see how it goes...
I'm soon gonna die of boredom at work... :( Looking forward to this weekend. Off to JB cos my family's coming down woo hoo... :p Btw enjoy the Kris Allen song I embedded. Took quite awhile to adjust it's display...guess some basic programming knowledge really helps... before I learnt programming I wouldn't have understood any of the jargon in the template haha... :p

We went to almost (if not all) all the free exhibitions in Expo. Comparing the individual exhibitions to PC Fair...it's really a much smaller scale. Collectively though, there's pretty much to explore. The Robinson's sale had the most number of customers in it. I guess branded stuff really does pull in the crowd. But they really had a great variety of stuff from men's to ladies to childrens stuff and even food was available... :p
The home decor exhibition was the least visited...though they probably had the most number of salesmen or promoters...haha.... There were a few nice promoters who so kindly entertained us even though me and HY really don't look like we own a house... :p
MPH sale was the one that I spent most of my time at...until it began to feel really cold... I was scanning through all the books for Jeffrey Archer's books...but couldn't find any (only had Jeffrey Deaver books keep popping up here and there). The books were pretty cheap...with paperback books only costing 5 dollars and general books going for 8 dollars. But I feel the paperback versions were really worth a buy...if u found good books. And I did buy 2 books haha...Dan Brown's Deception Point and Digital Fortress. I already have Da Vinci Code...and I couldn't find Angels and Demons. I heard Deception Point was good from Adeline... And these are I assume...good books...and going only for apiece? How can u ever find such a good bargain...it's more than half priced... haha... of course the books were slightly "damaged"...abit bent in a weird angle...but I managed to find some which are in pretty good condition...
Last but not least...the Food Indulgence Exhibition... hoho...got some free samples... I settled my dinner there...Japanese Pizza (it's some vege+egg+meat+some other stuff) pretty good to eat. And also mango sago...first time trying it...it's mango+sago+pomelo...didn't really like the pomelo...cos it was sour...liked the cooling feeling tho... Too bad my stomach wasn't feeling very hungry otherwise I would have gobbled up some Laksa and bak zhang... they were going for only a dollar each wow... The price of the Laksa is understandable as it is only a very small bowl... but the bak zhang... 1 dollar?? it looked pretyt normal sized to me...wonder what's the catch?? Leftover from Bak Zhang festival? Hopefully not... otherwise we'll be seeing a food poisoning headlines alongside the H1N1 news tmr... :p The H1N1 numebr of cases is really rising fast man...cos in Singapore it's hard to avoid crowded places isn't it? :p
