My Story

3 days of exam has passed. 3 papers done...2 more to go.

Maths was hmm...do-able but js no time...the shortage of time made me trip up on those that I did know how to do also...haih...I was never a maths person...what more I need to do it so fast...confirm got mistake wan...js hope for an average grade...no more maths modules after this...

MLE...haih how to say...when I study it feels like you know everything already. But, then exam time...not sure how to do also...got doubts here and there...10 marks gone cos the question...I think you need knowledge from the first few chapters which I didn't touch cos I tot it was not covered d...this one also js hope for an average grade...

CTW today...haha...crapped only la...think I exceeded the word limit. Really js crapped...dunno my points kena or not. Anyway...yea js hope for an average grade since my assignment marks also average only...

So you can see that my marks would all be most probably js average...somehow how hard I work also...you still fall in that average band. Take for instance CTW assignments. How good you do also...you'll be compared to the rest of the class and confirmed there'll be ppl better than you...position paper and critique is like that...even oral defence...how "well" you speak also you'll still be compared to your group mates and classmates. So even if it's in the 70 range or 80 range...there WILL be ppl above you and below you...so what's the difference...the final thing is that the total grade will still be at that average mark....so how...

On another note, it's super freaking hot these few days...almost like being baked in an oven...*sweats*....HOTTT!!!

Today is my mum's birthday. Happy birthday mum! Sorry I can't be back home to celebrate with you cos it's so near my exams. I love you. =)

Yea...exams are approaching...actually there's js 2 more days left to my first paper Maths. Hmm...somehow I want exams to come faster. Cos I dunno what else to study anymore. It's not that I've already learned everything and I'm going to score 100 for every paper. It's just that I've looked through most of the stuff (urm...as in read the answers as well) that I don't really know where else to touch. Maybe it's sien of looking at the same stuff over and over again (yet not really knowing how to do it)...haih...anyway I just want exams to be over so that I can FLY home.

I'm flying home literally...cos Chin Wee jio me and Shu Lin to sit the 30sgd Tiger Airways...not bad la the price haha...somehow I got tempted and ended up booking a ticket for myself and dragging Shu Lin along haha. This will be the 1st time I'm sitting a plane (and Chin Wee's)...wow...anyway the journey's only 55 minutes...from Changi to LCCT KL. Looking forward to the journey back home... :)

Another thing bugging me is the concert tech thing. Ben, Wei Jian and now Chao Yian have asked me to become the tech assistant. They keep insisting that it's alright to not know much...at least I've got a year's hall tech experience. But, now if I become the leader, I need to guide the members to do stuff...if I myself dunno anything how to guide them...I don't have the confidence really...But they're quite desperate looking for people...like Wei Jian said it's not for me to determine if I'm qualified for the job but them...but I'm just so afraid that they would have chosen the wrong person...and Shu Lin is right...I need to think if I can cope with my studies as well next sem...I really dunno so blur...part of me really wanna help them out...part of me just got no confidence to take it up...so how?? Should I crumble to their desperation pressure?? Look at what "ogh"(it's in code nvm) brought to me...also one activity that I crumbled to other's pressure...will this be the same or can I bring it to my advantage... *sigh*...

I met up with my 2nd sis in Singapore today. She followed her friends to church service at City Harvest Church in Jurong West. Initially, I was supposed to meet her at Singapore Expo cos her 2 frens going for some meeting there...but then in the end they went to church before that also. So, somehow, I managed to find my way there hehe...using Google Earth, SBS online bus guide...and of course my sis's directions ler (which without it...I would have lost myself I think haha)...

Anyway, when I reached the church, and 1st stepped in, I thought I was at the wrong place...cos it didn't seem like a church at first glance. It felt more like some office building cos there was even a lounge and fountains and a carpark (the level type)... So I was quite lost cos my sis went in d...and I had to wait a while for her to come and get me...luckily she did cos if not, I wouldn't even have known how to get to the place (though there were these ushers around).

City Harvest is really quite different from Glad Tidings back home...it's much more high tech (got lifts, "security" ushers etc...). Hmm...this's the first time I think that I went to church with my sis haha...last time she normally doesn't go while I go with my 1st sis...how times have changed...hmm... Btw, it's been a quite some time since I've went to a church service, though the environment in this church is really quite different but they still have the same urm sequence of events for the service...sermon, songs, and the usual "come to the front" (sorry I dunno what its proper name is) thing...ahh...I still feel the same urm...same way when I attend the church at home...mmm....

After the church service, 5 of us squeezed into the Kelisa that my sis's fren drove form JB to the Singapore Expo...where 2 of her frens went for meeting and the rest of us had 'lunch'...mainly caught up on recent events with my sis...that's my main target haha...it was a pleasant visit....although she's in Johor, so far she hasn't visited me in Sg before...well there's always a first time...we should do it more often Miao....love u...

Finally, room balloting is over...We didn't get exactly where we wanted but at least the jigsaw puzzle is still in place. Just that instead of block 6 we shifted to block 2. The room plan is actually the same...js the location of the block is different lor. By right, if the Qiqi don't crash our block then everything will be fine. Because of 1 girl all of us moved to block 2...causing a little of a chaos in the beginning of the balloting cos Gideon and Gail who already balloted had to go change their rooms. Feel pretty bad that the whole bunch of them had to move because of us...

Anyway, the final arrangement is Jon Tan (single), Gideon+Nick, Alex+Terry, Ee Hiang+Li Wei, me+Swee Yee (all 3rd floor) and Gail+Wing Mei in the 2nd floor of block 2 plus Shu Lin also. Initially it was supposed to be block 6 ler...but then..haih...we can't always get everything the way we wanted. Block 6 is more quiet...block 2 got CFA nearby...and 6 of us have been living in block 6 for the past year...so Ee Hiang and Swee Yee will miss the tree near the bench...and Ee Hiang has this "crush" on the block 6 uncle haha...

But, well...block 2 ain't that bad if we're all still together anyway...we'll make it our own block wahaha...make it noisy and clean...Block '6' gang just grew bigger...we'll still always be Block '6' gang at heart haha...

Since my blog supposedly has this "reputation" of being a food blog (wherever that came out from) haha...then must live up to it la...so here's some pictures from the tech MM treat at Svensens. We only took pictures of the ice-creams which is what they are originally famous for.

Today was PE day. The dreaded "can do OR cannot do" situation has
finally come. When I saw the 1st question, okay it was quite easy
as the lecturer has said. Confirm most people can finish that
question. But, 2nd question totally blur la. Blur as in not like
I've never seen this kind of question before. I was more like
kicking myself for not taking the initiative to go and try to do
or at least find out the solutions for these kind of questions.
If I did, I could have probably finished a part of the question.

Anyway, the questions aside, when it was time to start coding, we
all happily started on the 1st question thinking it was surely
do-able in a short while. I typed a few lines of code to read in
the input. Then tried to compile lo. Make...*waits*...saw that it
was kinda hanged...Ctrl+C...Sweep.exe removed. Oh no...did I
accidentally remove some file...hmm...quickly called the lab TA.
Lab TA also quite stressed at what was happening, he didn't know
what was going on. Somehow it managed to compile later on. Then,
oklo, I thought problem resolved. Continued typing...suddenly when
typing also the arrow got stuck also...*waves hand frantically to
lab TA*. He tried to resolve it as well. Close window, use new
account also cannot. Then, he asked me to do my algo first while
he asks the admin. Hmm...I thought...gonela...izzit my comp or what
Manoj and Kok Loon on my 2 sides seems to be happily coding away.
Die die die...what to do...

Shortly after that thought, I could see (ok...more like sense cos I
was seated at the front) other frantic hands waving. Hmm...seems
to be a common problem...not too bad then. Haha...when Kok Loon was
started punching his fingers randomly on his keyboard, I thought "
Yes...we're all having the same problem...haha". Anyway, it WAS
really the fault of the server which was caused by some problem hmm.
The forum is overloaded with students comments about what to do.
Either a retest or reduction in percentage. Either way, there's
gonna be a LOT of complaints about unfairness and all that...
Personally, I really don't want to go through the horror of another
PE...so I hope that the lecturers meeting on Monday will come out
with a decision to my favour...no retest pls *crosses fingers*...

For dinner, I went for tech MM treat at Svensens in Jurong Point.
Wow, Giap is really generous...although some money may be hall money,
but I believe that part of the money is from his own pocket as well.
He asked us to order as much as we want to eat which Frederick kindly
obeyed haha... I had chicken baked cheese rice which was pretty nice,
and my side of the table ordered 5 ice-cream dishes + 2 snacks.
A very rich sugar intake haha...Ice cream was pretty cool coming
in all sorts of patterns...sundaes, on crumbles (or is the whole
thing called crumble...it's ice cream on some sort of cake)... We
pretty much js dug into all the ice cream with the long, thin spoons
provided resulting in super fullness after that. Ju Ee got some
pictures of the food and the people as well...I'm waiting for that.
The food were pretty nice, though I somehow prefer js the normal
portion of ice cream...maybe cos this is just too many flavours and
styles that it kinda all blended into each other and I couldn't
taste the real thing haha. But, overall superb dinner.

Hmm...and somehow Jasvind has this idea that my blog is a food blog?
Cos of Jon I think....Jon...I think you confused my blog with
someone elses blog. Cos I dun have a camera so I dun upload many pictures (about food especially). Hmm..which...come to thinkof it...is a pretty fun thing to do...to blog about food I mean...Haha...when I get good food of course...

Finally!!! CTW oral defense is over. Didn't know what I worried for...it was just a short 30 minutes discussion with my tutor haha...that also talked for maybe 10 minutes? Mainly crapped though so don't know if I did well but well...it's finally past haha...yes yes...

Hmm...after badminton, now I'm addicted to ping pong...thanks to Ee Hiang... Badminton will still always be my number one hobby though at this period of time just feel discouraged to play now...so what do I do? Replace it with ping pong haha...or tt...it's pretty enjoyable especially playing with Ee Hiang haha...though I do still prefer badminton but I'll make do with it haha...this is one game where u can play at anytime of the day whether at 2am or even 6am if you wish to hah...

I think both of us attracted to much attention until today the Spongebob guy, Chiu Wai...I think his name is that...came and asked us if we're interested to join tt next year haha...I think maybe one reason is that they are really quite desperate to collect members...reminds me of how the badminton MM, Ah Chua approached me during the beginning of sem 1 as well...I've got no idea until now how he found out that I like to play haha...

Well, currently me and Ee Hiang still considering to join or not to haha...one thing I don't like about joining 2 sports is that you don't know which training to commit to if you are really interested in both... AND next year I've been asked if I want to take up the badminton MM job...hmm...sounds interesting BUT I'm not a good leader...the only time I have been president was in Taekwondo and there we had a small pool of ppl...and I was pretty much senior and an "old face" that's why I got that job but I would say it wasn't an easy job...I just put too much burden and responsibilities on myself...thank God that time I got help from some seniors... hmm...should I take MM or not...doubt I should though....I think I'll suck...

Started my day with a round of ping pong after breakfast...gosh Ee Hiang got me addicted as well...during lectures, other than dozing off, at times the orange ping pong ball was bouncing all over the table in my mind haha...hmm...first it was the shuttlecock nw this...

After my usual three 2-hour lectures, when I came back, Hong Pei taught me some guitar haha...nw I can strum the 1st 2 verses (do u call it that?) of the "More than Words" song...haha...not good at all la tho...but js for fun...not bad haha...took her more than an hour to teach me that...I've been wanting to learn guitar ever since after Form 6 or was it Form 5 that I bought the guitar??...my guitar rotting at home haha...maybe this's a start....

Then, went to engin to study at night. Which is quite unusual of me cos I'm more of the "room" type. But, decided I needed a change in environment...it is quite a refreshing change...cos I'm like forced to study there...die die must read something there...though I think I did sleep off for awhile...what has happened to me...I can almost sleep anywhere nw...hmm...

Today feels like a fully utilized day. Didn't really waste a lot of time...other than falling asleep awhile while studying and certain empty spaces of time which I js treated it as a break from studying. 3 more weeks...everyone is adding oil...I tell myself I must too..it's not easy...had already lost momentum...cos the past week was busy with CTW...didn't get much studying done because of that...so kinda lapsed a little d...so I need to get my engine up and running again...hmm...

Had quite an okay study session befor lunchtime...then hung out in Hong Pei's room a little, reading the sister's keeper, hmm...it's been a long time since I read a book that I wanted to keep reading...tho I js don't really have all the time in the world nw to read. Then, 1pm went to SRC for the badminton IFG...tho this time is js go there to show face...cos Medicine doesn't have a team I think..so it's js a walkover...so stayed there a short while and then cabut ler...

After that, continued with my studying...but u start to lose concentration towards the evening...and I dunno how come I could doze off a few times while reading my notes...nvr really happened to me last time.

Then, summore so many ppl ask me play badminton...I've become a synonym for badminton...I think got 5 diff ppl ask me play today d... js when I've decided not to play anymore badminton...I dunno how long I can last though haha...very tempted to play each time ppl ask me to...

Kinda the highlight of the day was dinner. We went to Dover this time...my first time there. From an original 5 ppl...it grew to 13 of us (sy, gail, terry, jj, cw, wj, jerome, jon, wayne, lh, jasvind, n cw's roomie...hv fun guessing the initials) heading for the coffee shop in Dover...good business la the aunty...they untung about 80 dollars from us. Not bad la got free rice and jelly. Food also ngam ngam hor enough for us. Well, for me at least...dunno the guys enough or not la...haha...pretty interesting dinner trip...and we even took pics near the shop... and at the bus stop...as though we had an excursion to overseas haha...hope Jerome puts them up haha....
