Doulos
Anway, my mum’s friend’s nephew, D Way, what a cute name, brought us around the ship. The place is like a small town…they have cabins (where they sleep of course), a clinic, school, dining area, kitchen and even a fire station. D Way also showed us where he worked, the engine room, the only place that’s hot. He even explained to us how the engines work. He just finished a biotech course and now he’s doing engineering…haha. But I doubt he minds at all. He says that it’s a very good experience. They really learn a lot. His volunteering period is 2 years. There’s also a temporary period of 2 months for those who are interested but they do not learn as much. But, if you want to volunteer to work on the ship, you have to pay them instead of you getting paid. Guess it’s something like a on-job training thing. Weird but I guess the volunteers will feel it’s worth it.

Now, let me tell you all about the current talk of the town if you all haven’t heard about it yet. Yesterday there was kind of a gang fight outside my school. Most of the students were from my school but I heard there were outsiders involved as well. It seems it started on Monday. 2 guys fought and then you know guys…they get their gangs together and start fighting. it was just outside the school near Modern there. I didn’t witness it myself but I did see crowds and guys holding sticks. Scary…there was a guy who got injured in the head. Heard he went into a coma, almost died but he woke up. I guess he’s quite fine. Sounds so serious…
Then. today there was supposed to be another showdown. I guess they wanna balas dendam or something liddat. They were targeting the prefects so I heard because earlier in the week the prefects stopped a fight. The prefects were quite afraid and they had meeting and they were asked to go home earlier. They said the gangs were waiting outside with parangs. I dunno how true this is. But, when I went out, I saw a sea of students all waiting for the fight to happen. But I think the gang members had to run away cos there was a police car waiting outside the school. I really wonder if there is any sense in those ppl. Can’t they see that their fighting can cause injuries and deaths?? They’re so violent. But my teacher did say that it’s very common in my school. And I think it’s quite common in other schools as well especially boys school. Weird thinking they have. We can just pray that everything goes well and there won’t be anymore fights. It scares me just thinking about it…
