My Story

Even the blog posts from my first year brings back so much memories as well. There was one that had the youtube video of our M'sian Nite preparation...from the pictures u can see so many ppl have changed in looks and I can recall how relationships develop throughout our years in RH. Even though it was only...2 years...hey quite a long while now come to think of it... :p
Back to the present days now, I went to meet the UROP PHD student yesterday. He was quite nice telling me insights on what type of career to choose next time like startup companies or big companies or ur own company. And also he welcomes me to get involved in their projects. Their projects are mostly embedded related or game related. They have plenty la...see what task they give me. I never really thought of whether I can handle it when school reopens but I just want to learn and I think hands-on skills are so much better. O well I'll see how it goes...
I'm soon gonna die of boredom at work... :( Looking forward to this weekend. Off to JB cos my family's coming down woo hoo... :p Btw enjoy the Kris Allen song I embedded. Took quite awhile to adjust it's display...guess some basic programming knowledge really helps... before I learnt programming I wouldn't have understood any of the jargon in the template haha... :p

We went to almost (if not all) all the free exhibitions in Expo. Comparing the individual exhibitions to PC Fair...it's really a much smaller scale. Collectively though, there's pretty much to explore. The Robinson's sale had the most number of customers in it. I guess branded stuff really does pull in the crowd. But they really had a great variety of stuff from men's to ladies to childrens stuff and even food was available... :p
The home decor exhibition was the least visited...though they probably had the most number of salesmen or promoters...haha.... There were a few nice promoters who so kindly entertained us even though me and HY really don't look like we own a house... :p
MPH sale was the one that I spent most of my time at...until it began to feel really cold... I was scanning through all the books for Jeffrey Archer's books...but couldn't find any (only had Jeffrey Deaver books keep popping up here and there). The books were pretty cheap...with paperback books only costing 5 dollars and general books going for 8 dollars. But I feel the paperback versions were really worth a buy...if u found good books. And I did buy 2 books haha...Dan Brown's Deception Point and Digital Fortress. I already have Da Vinci Code...and I couldn't find Angels and Demons. I heard Deception Point was good from Adeline... And these are I assume...good books...and going only for apiece? How can u ever find such a good bargain...it's more than half priced... haha... of course the books were slightly "damaged"...abit bent in a weird angle...but I managed to find some which are in pretty good condition...
Last but not least...the Food Indulgence Exhibition... hoho...got some free samples... I settled my dinner there...Japanese Pizza (it's some vege+egg+meat+some other stuff) pretty good to eat. And also mango sago...first time trying it...it's mango+sago+pomelo...didn't really like the pomelo...cos it was sour...liked the cooling feeling tho... Too bad my stomach wasn't feeling very hungry otherwise I would have gobbled up some Laksa and bak zhang... they were going for only a dollar each wow... The price of the Laksa is understandable as it is only a very small bowl... but the bak zhang... 1 dollar?? it looked pretyt normal sized to me...wonder what's the catch?? Leftover from Bak Zhang festival? Hopefully not... otherwise we'll be seeing a food poisoning headlines alongside the H1N1 news tmr... :p The H1N1 numebr of cases is really rising fast man...cos in Singapore it's hard to avoid crowded places isn't it? :p

I just checked the site where I uploaded my VIP report...and the grade status is S. Super fast la my mentor haha...Luckily it's a S otherwise have to "repeat" my VIP haha...I don't think ppl do that do they? :p
Aaahhh...slacking... as usual... some good websites that I refresh every now and then:-
1. Engadget (if u love having latest updates on gadgets)
2. Badzine (if u LOVE badminton...)
3. BadmintonCentral (if u LOVE badminton as well)
4. RecipeZaar (this I discovered recently...recipes for cooking...which I have found the time to do this vacation) =)

My supervisor is MIA...din see him the last couple of days. Hopefully he turns up cos I need him to sign my report for submission at the end of this week argh... I asked another lady and she said he's supposed to have a meeting later...so hopefully he turns up she says haha... I feel so slack...
It feels good to just do something somtimes. I just sent a mail to the supervisor of the UROP project I'm interested in. The title is Development of a Web 2.0 based Media Authoring System. I have no idea if I'm qualified to do it haha...but it's all for the sake of learning rite? So I should just go for it as what everyone just tells me... But then again, it's easy to encourage others to do it, go for it, but if u put urself in their shoes...it's not so easy. There's a lot of pros and cons to weigh...but I guess once you consider all the pros and all the cons, you will come to a conclusion whether u want it or not...
For the first time, I'm not really looking forward to the weekend...ahaha...nooo...I didn't say that did I? I meant I'm looking forward to the weekend but hope I can skip Thursday cos I need to give an answer that I hope I'm good at giving (confusing rite? :p)... I'm planning to go Expo this weekend for MPH sale and some food exhibition...just for fun...no particular aim...rather than being js cooped up in the room watching Ugly Betty and Friends haha... Hope I dun contract H1N1 from some random person on the street... :p
PS: And for goodness sake, those people who keep staring at my computer when you walk past my place...stop it ler...I can see your stares from the reflection of the cubicle screen u noe...one day i'm gonna get up and bash u...argh...

Work wise...spent last week coding stuff...or more like copying and pasting code. My supervisor wasn't around the whole week so took my own sweet time coding it. Considered finished now though I have no idea whether it's correct or not. Even the past 2 days I haven't seen my supervisor around. Geesh...and VIP report is due this week...I need his signature....argh...hope he turns up b4 Friday so I can get it done...
Today I did absolutely nothing at work....except browsing the internet. Suddenly felt like doin UROP...some research programme. Sounds like a great opportunity to learn...but I dunno if I'm up to it, juggling studies and this programme. Talking about up to it....I got an offer in hall....but I also think I'm not up to it. Never imagined myself in that position....haih...how...dilemma....
Haih...everything felt so dilly dally today...even dinner...even playtime...all so slow n sloowww....haih.... And we can't play badminton at night anymore....cos some "open competition" has been goin on up to 3am at nights....so the court lights are permanently off-ed now... damn... no more entertainment argh... :(

We had 2 dinners (actually 3)...one at Vivo bus stop, one at Pizza (3rd wan was LY's timing of dinner when all the shops were closing)... :p Went shopping randomly at some shops lor...don't really have any target items so I just bought honey and Colgate... Later, CW's cousin came and fetched us so we had a ride home to hall haha... :p
Hmm...weekend's plans...dunnole...PC Show is going on at Suntec... (All the prices are available here...so cool)I feel like going to buy external hard disk but I can't decide my budget and whether I want the portable wan or not...so many pros and cons. The portable wan is nicer looking, light lor, can straight use USB no need extra power point but much more expensive than the desktop version. I'm thinking...if I pay the same amount of money I can get the double the memory for the desktop version...but then in the first place do I need so much memory hmm...how...beauty or functionality? I already gave Aswin headache haha bothering him with these questions...hmm... =)

Again and again I tell myself that I should find other better things to do other than watch drama....but drama is really the most entertaining. At work, I find myself looking at the W3schools website where they teach u how to develop websites. It really does look interesting when I'm at work. When I'm back in the room I can't be bothered to look through it haha...I should...I know...
On another note, the Singapore Open is going on now...I did think of going to watch live...but luckily I didn't cos Lee Chong Wei just lost to the Vietnamese Nguyen Thien Minh....geesh...I should have guessed earlier though...cos there was an article whereby LCW did say he's not in good form to defend his title. And the Vietnamese guy is a really good fighter....haih...no choice la...sad...nvmla I should cheer up...the weekend is nearing soon haha...and probably plan to go Vivo and maybe PC fair this weekend yay.... :p

Well, I guess to do my stuff....I really want to learn how to setup a website cos Aswin makes it sound so interesting. That fella really influence me alot haha...but I haven't even got over the installation steps yet which is rather messy. :( Well, with no deadlines and all that I guess I can take it step-by-step. I rather learn it at my own time rather than being forced to meet project deadlines and all that... Of course, you'll need discipline.. :p

Currently, I'm already almost 4 weeks in my internship at I2R. Basically, my job is related to artificial intelligence for computer games. Haven't really done much yet. But, should be getting busy soon. Working life is pretty tiring. Wake up early in the morning...spend about 8 hours in the office sitting in front of the computer (yawning)...feel so tired after work....until I reach the room, bathe and then suddenly feel so energetic again....watch movie until midnight then go to bed (sleep is a pretty wonderful thing to do) and the next day the same routine just happens again. That's why I quite look forward to weekends when you can do whatever you like since studies is not ongoing, you can go wherever you like and just relax. :p
Talking about studies, I'm planning for my Year 3 and 4 modules now...not that I'm so excited to plan but we have to submit the plan through and online system here. It's good....that we need to clarify our "interests" so early....cos sooner or later we will have to choose our modules. Currently, I have a rough idea about what to do but a bit scared. Scared that I'll choose the wrong modules or whatever....scared noone take with me... dunno....haih... That's y I'm goin through the module information again and again to better understand what the module is all about. But, not convinced yet...and my friend gave me a very good idea...search for people's blogs regarding the modules....gain a better insight into the modules...which is pretty much scaring me more haha....haih... Anyway my 7 technical electives that I have in mind now is probably:-
EE3206 Introduction to Computer Vision and Image Processing
EE3701 Digital Media Technologies
EE3406 Microelectronics Materials
EE4210 Computer Communication Networks II
EE4214 Real-Time Embedded Systems
EE4218 Embedded Hardware System Design
EE4212 Computer Vision
For now, that's what I suppose I'll do but it's just a plan anyway...I can always change my mind later...who know...mayb the timetable wouldn't fit....haha....geesh...
